Bob Canning |
Bob
was born in a small town in Ontario, Canada. He grew up around honest
and honorable men and women, where farming, milking cattle and raising
horses were and still are a family tradition since 1896.
After high school he received a scholarship to Art
College in Toronto, where he studied drawing with renowned Canadian
artist, Dr. Robert Ross. After two successful one-man shows in the
early 60’s, Bob’s career took off when he jumped into the advertising
business as a film director, winning awards from Hollywood to Cannes.
Bob started painting again in 1995, using his
much acclaimed film eye and story-telling ability to enhance his
images. His bold and colorful acrylics portray the cowboy in his
single-mindedness, strong, dutiful and loyal. Bob is now a storyteller
with a brush! He uses color, composition and pose as building blocks
to capture the simplicity of the present, yet at the same time giving
you enough history of the subject for you to continue the story and
fill in the blanks. Bob’s work has been featured in Southwest Art
magazine and has caught the eye of many western art collectors. His
paintings hang in fine homes and corporate offices in both the U.S.
and Canada.
