The
wildlife subjects of Neil Jones step beyond the limits of merely being
anatomically correct representations of wildlife. His paintings are
expressions of how he feels about his subjects.Wildlife has been at
the centre of Neil’s life since childhood. His home bordered on the
natural habitat of many magnificent wildlife species, providing an
environment that fuelled his fascination. Out of this early passion
grew a sense of higher purpose and commitment to conservation, which
manifested in Neil’s artistic vocation of wildlife painting.
Ducks Unlimited selected Neil’s painting "Red Fox with Goose Wing"
as part of the Royal Dinner and Auction held in the presence of the
Duke of Edinburgh, President of the World Wildlife Fund. There Neil’s
work had a direct financial impact on conservation.
Neil’s paintings have been shown in several solo exhibitions and
group shows, including the Ramsar World Wildlife Fund Banquet and Show
in Regina and the Canadian Nature Federation Saskatchewan Tour. He has
won several prestigious awards, including Wildlife Artist of the Year
in Saskatchewan twice. Neil’s work is held in both public and private
collections. He also teaches, lectures and adjudicates.
Indirectly, the paintings of Neil Jones have nurtured an
understanding of our natural heritage, allowing people to become
re-enlightened about the wonders of the outdoor world.
