John Pettis was born in northwest Montana
and raised around cowboys, packers and hunters. As a result he has many interesting stories from personal experience to create his work.
John made his first bronze at the age of 18. His talents are self taught. As his talents grew, so has the demand for his art. He has developed into one of the great young bronze artists sculpting today in both the western and wildlife fields. John not only sculpts, but he also does his own casting work and finishes off each piece in the edition by applying the patina himself. He truly captures his subjects, which makes his work so sought after.
John's work is displayed in many private collections across the U.S. He also has a life-size bronze on permanent display in Whitefish, Montana, at the Burlington Northern train depot. At the Western Heritage Show, in conjunction with the C.M. Russell show, he has won Best of Show the past two years.
John currently lives in
Kalispell, Montana with
his wife Jennifer, and
their 3 sons. John
enjoys spending time
with his family and
friends, loves outdoors
activities, and he is
always looking to
capture new ideas for
the next piece to
sculpt.
