Gloria
Williams Polis |
Gloria is an emerging bronze artist, specializing in the depiction of wildlife. Her deep-seated fascination with animals started at an early age as a child in Georgia and continued as she raised dogs and Arabian horses in later years.
Having lived in Alaska and now in Wyoming and Arizona, her appreciation for wild animals broadened. And she began to take a sympathetic view of nature. Trips to Africa and the Galapagos Islands furthered her determination to find a way to express the emotion stirred by viewing wild animals so closely.
Having the ability to capture the spirit of a wild animal in a bronze sculpture is rewarding and humbling. "I try to be as technically correct as possible while trying to capture the 'personality' of the animal. Even animals like wolves and bears are playful", Gloria states.
"If my work creates an interest in, a respect for, or a perspective of man's role in nature, I will have succeeded in fulfilling my goals as a bronze artist. |
